C3b / C4b receptor gene (CR1), its coding protein, CR1 nucleic acid sequences and their fragments containing 70 nucleotides and their coding peptides or proteins containing 24 amino acids, expression of the CR1 protein and its fragments. These genes and proteins are used for the diagnosis and therapy of disorders in which the activity of supplements is involved and of various inflammatory or immune system disorders. In specific embodiments described in detail in the examples given below, the cloning, the nucleotide sequence and the deduced amino acid sequence of the CR1 cDNA throughout its length and of fragments thereof are described. The invention also relates to the expression of the CR1 protein and its fragments, as well as the expression of a secreted CR1 molecule lacking the transmembrane region. The secreted CR1 molecule has been shown to be useful in reducing damage caused by inflammation, in reducing the spread of a myocardial infarction and in preventing reperfusion injury. |
