abstract | An electrophotographic light-sensitive material comprising a support having provided thereon at least one photoconductive layer containing an inorganic photoconductive substance and a binder resin, wherein the binder resin comprises (A) at least one resin having a weight average molecular weight of from 1×10 3 to 2×10 4 and containing not less than 30% by weight of a copolymerizable component corresponding to a repeating unit represented by the general formula (I) described below and having at least one acidic group selected from the group consisting of -P0 3 H 2 , -S0 3 H, -COOH, -OH,n (wherein R represents a hydrocarbon group or -OR (wherein R represents a hydrocarbon group)) and a cyclic acid anhydride-containing group at one of the terminals of the main chain thereof;n wherein a 1 and a 2 each represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a cyano group or a hydrocarbon group; and R 1 represents a hydrocarbon group; and (B) at least one copolymer resin having a weight average molecular weight of from 3×10 4 to 1×10 6 and containing at least one polyester type macromonomer having a weight average molecular weight of from 1 ×10 3 to 1.5×10 4 and represented by the following general formula (IIIa), (Illb), (IIIc), or (Illd):n n n n wherein the group in the brackets represents a recurring unit; c 1 and c 2 , which may be the same or different, each represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a cyano group, a hydrocarbon group having from 1 to 8 carbon atoms, -COO-V 1 , or -COO-V 2 bonded through a hydrocarbon group having from 1 to 8 carbon atoms (wherein V 1 and V 2 each represents a hydrocarbon group having from 1 to 18 carbon atoms); X 1 represents a direct bond,n (wherein ℓ 1 and ℓ 2 each represents an integer of from 1 to 3),n (wherein d 1 represent a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbon group having from 1 to 12 carbon atoms), -CONHCONH-, -CONHCOO-, -0-,n or -S0 2 -; Y, represents a group bonding X 1 to -COO-; W 1 and W 2 , which may be the same or different, each represents a divalent aliphatic group, a divalent aromatic group (each of the aforesaid groups may have, in the bond of each divalent organic moiety, at least one bonding group selected from -0-, -S-,n (wherein d 2 represents a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbon group having from 1 to 12 carbon atoms), -SO 2 -. -COO-, -OCO-, -CONHCO-, -NHCONH-,n (wherein d 3 has the same meaning as d 2 ),n (wherein d 4 has the same meaning as d 2 ), andn or an organic moiety composed of a combination of these moieties; R 31 represents a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbon group; c 3 and c 4 have the same meaning as c 1 and c 2 ; X 2 has the same meaning as X 1 ; Y z represents a group bonding X 2 to -COO-; W 3 represents a divalent aliphatic group; R 32 has the same meaning as R 31 ; R 31 represents a hydrogen atom, a hydrocarbon group or -COR 33 (wherein R33 represents a hydrocarbon group); Y 1 , represents a group bonding X, to Zi; Z 1 , represents -CH 2 -, -0-, or -NH-; Y 2 . represents a group bonding X 2 to Z 2 ; Z 2 has the same meaning as Z 1 ; and R 32 has the same meaning as R 31 . n The electrophotographic light-sensitive material exhibits excellent electrostatic characteristics and mechanical stength even under severe conditions.
