The present invention relates to a biocidal protective coating and to a method of coating heat exchanger coils. The coating comprises a polymer composition containing an organic water-resistant polymer and a compound represented by the general formula (I), where X is selected from the group consisting of organic ions, H +, Group I metals, Group II metals and transition metals, R and R 'are selected separately from the group which is composed of hydrocarbons and substituted hydrocarbons having at most 24 carbon atoms and where there is at least one free hydroxyl group. |
