titleOfInvention | Solid gas-generating composition and its application in gas generators for inflatable safety bags in motor vehicles |
abstract | The present invention relates to new pyrotechnic compositions generating non-toxic cold gases.n n n The compositions according to the invention contain between 55% and 71% by weight of alkali or alkaline earth azide, between 25% and 40% by weight of molybdenum sulfide and between 3% and 6% by weight of a binder consisting by the reaction product of a glycidyl polyazide with hydroxyl endings with at least one polyisocyanate. A preferred composition comprises 35% by weight of molybdenum sulfide, 60% by weight of sodium azide and 5% by weight of a binder obtained by reaction of a glycidyl polyazide with OH hydroxyl terminations of mass 2000 on the biruet trimer of hexamethylene diisocyanate.n n n The compositions according to the invention are much less sensitive to external aggressions, and in particular to humidity, than the traditional compositions based on azide and molybdenum sulfide. They are particularly suitable for non-toxic cold gas generators intended to inflate the airbags of motor vehicles. |
