titleOfInvention STEREOEFFECT IMPROVEMENT AND DIRECTIONAL CHARACTERISTICS CONTROL.
abstract In a stereo system having addition and difference signals processed for enhancing stereo images, the apparent directivity of stereo sound is improved by using servo systems (40, 44) for the difference signals processed left and right (L - R) p, (R - L) p. Each of the servo systems (40, 44) responds to the respective left or right stereo input signal (Lin, Rin) and amplifies the increases in the respective left or right processed difference signals. The degree of amplification is controlled by feedback of the amplified or improved directivity difference signal (L - R) pe, (R - L) pe, by comparing it first with the processed difference signal (L - R) p , (R - L) p before improving the directivity, then combining it with the input signal (Lin, Rin) in a preselected ratio so as to control the degree of amplification of the processed difference signal which allows improved directivity.
