New phenylethanolamines of general formula (I), in which A is a straight-chain or branched alkylene group, B is a bond, an alkylene group, a carbonyl or hydroxymethylene group, R1 is a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom or a trifluormethyle group, R2 is a hydrogen atom or an amino group, R3 is a cyano group, a hydrogen, chlorine or bromine atom, R4 is a hydrogen or halogen atom, an alkyl, hydroxy, alkoxy, carboxy, alkoxycarbonyl, aminocarbonyl, alkylaminocarbonyl or dialkylaminocarbonyl group or an alkoxy group, substituted in an end position by a carboxy, alkoxycarbonyl, aminocarbonyl, alkylaminocarbonyl, dialkylaminocarbonyl, hydroxy, alkoxy, amino, alkylamino, dialkylamino, pyrrolidino, piperidino or hexamethyleneimino group, their optical isomers and their diastereomers and acid addition salts. The new compounds, their optical isomers, diastereomers and addition salts, in particular physiologically acceptable acid addition salts with inorganic and organic acids, possess useful pharmacological properties, namely an effect on the metabolism, preferably reduction of the blood sugar level and body fat. They can also be used to promote performance in animals. The new compounds can be produced by processes known per se. |
