abstract To prepare stearidonic acid from a mixture of fatty acids originating from the saponification of a lipid containing it, reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography is used, choosing the composition of the eluent and the concentration of fatty acids in the solutions injected into the column. A reinjection of the enriched fraction obtained leads to 98 % pure stearidonic acid. n<??>Stearidonic acid participates in the manufacture of pharmaceutical compositions for combating cardiovascular and thromboembolic diseases associated with platelet aggregation.
