abstract The invention relates to a surgical device (90) for inserting a plastic adjustment ring (47) with split ends into the stroma of the cornea of the eye. The adjustment ring includes a dissection head (48) for dividing the stroma and providing a passage for the adjustment ring at the same time as the latter is rotated. The ends of the adjustment ring are moved to modify the shape of the cornea and give it a desired shape according to the visual correction which it is desired to perform, after which the ends of the adjustment ring are joined fixedly to keep the desired shape.
