titleOfInvention | CLEANING METHOD USING PHASE SHIFTING OF DENSE GAS PHASES. |
abstract | A process for removing two or more contaminants from a substrate in a single step, which comprises contacting the substrate to be cleaned with a dense phase gas at a pressure equal to or greater than its critical pressure, then varying the phase of the dense phase gas between the liquid state and the supercritical state by modifying by a series of steps the temperature of the dense fluid between a temperature above and a temperature below the critical temperature of the dense fluid. After each temperature variation, the latter is thus maintained for a predetermined period of time to allow contact with the substrate and the contaminants and to allow the elimination of the latter. With each change in temperature, the dense-phase gas exhibits different cohesive energy densities or solubility properties. Thanks to the phase changes of the dense fluid, it is thus possible to remove a plurality of contaminants from the substrate without having to use different solvents. In other embodiments, treatment with ultraviolet radiation, ultrasonic energy, dense phase reactive gas or additives may also be used. |
