abstract | A hydrogenated derivative of a polycyclic norbornene ring-opening copolymer and a process for its production are disclosed. The hydrogenated derivative contains 90 to 10 mol % of repeating units represented by general formula (I) or alkyl-substituted derivative thereof, at least repeating units represented by general formula (II) or alkyl-substituted derivative thereof and, if necessary, at least one kind of repeating units represented by general formula (III), alkyl-substituted derivatives thereof and alkylidene-substituted derivatives thereof, which has a limiting viscosity, [η], of 0.01 to 20 dl/g measured at 25°C in toluene and in which at least 50 % of (C---C) bonds constituting the main chain are single bonds. In the said formulas the symbol --- represents either a single or a double bond. |
