A method of manufacturing colored hydrophilic contact lenses is described, according to which a contact lens is made of hydrophilic polymer substantially free of the functional groups -COOH, -OH, -NH-R, in which R represents hydrogen, or alkyl containing from 1 to 8 C, -NCO and epoxy. At least part of the lens surface is covered with a color layer comprising at least one pigment, a binding polymer comprising functional groups selected from at least one of the following -COOH, -OH, and -NH-R , in which R represents hydrogen, or alkyl comprising from 1 to 8 C, as well as an additional compound comprising at least two groups per molecule of -NCO. The layer-bearing lens is treated so that the color layer sticks to said lens. |
