titleOfInvention ARRANGEMENT FOR FIXING A KNEE JOINT IN DEFINED POSITIONS AND FOR CONTROLLING THE POSITION OF THE INSTRUMENTS REPLACING THE KNEE JOINT WITH A PROSTHESIS.
abstract The arrangement described serves to fix a knee joint for a prosthetic surgery operation. Said arrangement makes it possible to fix the knee joint operated relative to a reference plane, which is represented by the operating table. The aim is to control with great precision the position of the measuring and cutting instruments during the prosthetic surgery operation. The arrangement includes an alignment instrument (11) for aligning and securing the femur (66) and tibia (21) relative to a reference axis in both the frontal and sagittal planes, the alignment tool comprising a fixed part (4) for the trunk. The fixed part is adjustable and can be locked in selected positions by transverse movement relative to the reference axis. The aligner also includes another fixed part for securing the knee joint (20, 22) and the tibia (21). The arrangement further includes a position control unit, which is used to control the position of the measuring and cutting instruments. The cutting of the bone can thus be carried out under control, in a precise and delicate manner, which creates the conditions proper to the desired positioning and to the exact adaptation of the prosthesis relative to its seat.
