abstract |
A reagent for use in the fluorescence polarization immunoassay for 11-nor-Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol-9-carboxylic acid (an important metabolite of the drug marijuana) contains a release agent in addition to an antibody for this metabolite and an aqueous buffer. This release agent binds and blocks nonspecific binding sites of the human serum albumin present in the urine and of other proteins in the urine and thereby enables a more reliable detection of the "released" metabolite. Variants of a method for detecting the metabolite carried out using the release agents are also described. |
