abstract Benzo(4,5)thieno(2,3-c)pyridine derivs. of formula (I) and their acid addn. salts are new, where R1 is (opt. substd.) satd. cycloalkyl; R2 and R3 are halogen, (opt. substd.) alkyl, aryl, alkenyl, acyl or arylcarbonyl; m and n are 0-4; when m or n is 2 or more, the R2/R3 gps. may be same or different. Prepn. comprises reaction of (II) (or substd. derivs.) (derived in 5 steps from a 2-amino-3- (benzo(b)thien-3-yl) propanoic acid) with R1NH2 and (PhO)2P(O)N3, followed by deprotection (e.g. by acid hydrolysis).
