abstract | A method of testing the effect of an agonist or nan antagonist to B lymphocyte cell surface protein CD20 nin B lymphocyte function which involves determining ncalcium ion flux across the B lymphocyte membrane, ncontacting the B lymphocyte with the agonist or nantagonist, and determining the change in calcium ion nflux across the membrane after exposure of the B nlymphocyte to the agonist or antagonist, is described. nIn preferred embodiments of the method the agonist or nantagonist is a ligand that binds CD20 or an antibody to nCD20. n In other preferred embodiments, calcium ion nflux is more preferably determined in terms of ntransmembrane current flow and most preferrably ndetermined in terms of the change in cytosolic Ca²⁺ nconcentration. |
