In the oligonucleotide-polyamide conjugates represented by the formula XLY, X represents a polyamide, Y an oligonucleotide and L a bond forming a covalent bond with the amino terminus of polyamide X and with the 3 ′ phosphate group of oligonucleotide Y. These conjugates can be synthesized by assembling a polyamide on a solid support matrix and by adding an appropriate binding molecule, followed by synthesis of the oligonucleotide. Methods for detecting specific polynucleotides with oligonucleotide-polyamide conjugates are also described. |
