abstract A device used for cryogenic storage of blood vessels includes a pair of styli capable of being inserted into the ends of a segment of a severed blood vessel. The styli can be mounted on a support rail, which allows the blood vessel to be stretched and supported during cryogenic preservation processes. A freezing and thawing profile maximizes the survival rate of endothelial cells. Chondroitin sulfate or a similar compound is used as a new cryoprotective.
