The present invention is related to an optical recording medium compirisng a substrate, a light-absorbing layer containing a near infrared absorbent and a heat-sensitive color-developing layer, these layers being superposed upon the substrate. The near infrared absorbent which is used in the present invention is prepared by mixng and heating a thiourea derivative and a metallic compound. This near infrared absorbent has relatively uniform and strong absorption spectra all over the near infrared region, and therefore, on the optical recording medium of the present invention, an image having a high resolution can be directly obtained by the irradiation of the near infrared rays. |
