titleOfInvention | Method for producing polyurethane foam and apparatus therefor |
abstract | A method of producing a polyurethane foam ncomprising the steps of dissolving rapidly and nsubstantially completely a non-condensible non-reactive ngas in a liquid isocyanate component or a liquid polyol ncomponent or both while the isocyanate and polyol ncomponents are maintained separate from one another, nwhile controlling the flow of the non-reactive gas to nmaintain a predetermined dissolved gas to liquid ratio, nand while maintaining the component in which the nnucleating agent is being dissolved under pressure nsufficient to maintain the gas in solution and to hold nsubstantially constant the dissolved gas to liquid ratio nand mixing the previously separated isocyanate and polyol ncomponents together while reducing the pressure to nnucleate the dissolved gas in the isocyanate and polyol ncomponents and while impinging liquid streams of the ncomposition together thereby enhancing mixing and npermitting the mixture to foam so as to form a fine ncelled polyurethane foam. An apparatus for producing the nsame is also provided. |
