titleOfInvention | Preparation of isomers of myo-inositol derivatives |
abstract | Myo-inositol derivatives which are useful as intermediates in the preparation of the phosphate esters have the general chemical formula: CyC6H6(OH)n(OZ)m(OX)p, in which X is a mono- or divalent hydroxyl-protecting group, Z is a propenyl group, n is at least 1, m is at least 1, p is zero or an integer from 1 to 4 when X is monovalent or zero, 1 or 2 when X is divalent, and, n+m+p = 6. The hydroxyl-protecting group may be benzyl, p-methoxybenzyl, crotyl or isopropylidenyl and the compounds may be esterified with (-)-camphanic acid to resolve diastereoisomers. By using a selection of chemical reactions which have specific known effect on the starting materials it is possible to design derivatives of myo-inositol which have specific structures, providing useful intermediates for further reaction to insert substituents, for example, the phosphate and phosphorothiote ester groups, into specific positions in the cyclohexane ring of myo-inositol. |
