Process for the polymerization of ethylene or copolymerization of ethylene with an alpha-olefin, in suspension or in the gas phase, in the presence of a catalyst consisting of a cocatalyst and of a catalytic component containing at least titanium, magnesium and chlorine characterized in that in a first step the catalytic component is subjected, before its implementation, to a reduction treatment and in that in a second step the product of the first step is treated with a chlorinated transition metal compound.n n n The reduction treatment is preferably stopped when at least 50% by weight of the initial titanium has its degree of oxidation reduced by at least one unit. |
