A means of purifying gases and exhaust gases from volatile heavy metals consists of calcium hydroxide and water-soluble salts of sulfur-containing compounds, e.g. Mercaptans, sulfides, polysulfides, polythionates and thiosulfates or elemental sulfur, which is used in combination with surface-active substances.n n n Possibilities for the preparation of the means consist in adding the sulfur-containing compounds during the extinguishing of quicklime to quicklime, into the extinguishing water or after extinguishing on calcium hydroxide.n n n The agents are used to remove volatile heavy metals, especially mercury, arsenic, cadmium, thallium, antimony and lead, in the temperature range of 20 - 400 degrees Celsius. For this purpose, the agents are blown into the exhaust gas stream as powder and the resulting products are separated on fabric filters. |
