Starch encapsulation of biocontrol agents |
abstract |
Biological regulators such as viruses and pathogenic bacteria are encapsulated in a protective starch matrix without the use of chemical crosslinking agents. The agent is mixed in a pregelatinized starch dispersion which is then subjected to conditions suitable for retrogradation. Dispersions can be formulated either for dry granules or for atomizable liquids. Encapsulated products are useful for controlling insects and other pests with chewing mouth parts and digestive amylase enzymes. |
