titleOfInvention Process for culturing animal cells on a large scale and process for preparing supporting substrate for that process
abstract A process for three-dimensionally culturing animal cells on a large scale by embedding animal cells in a collagen gel and a process for preparing a supporting substrate for use in that process are disclosed. In the process for culturing animal cells on a large scale, a collagen gel having embedded therein animal cells is covered by a protective film which supports the collagen gel. The collagen gel thus supported facilitates its handling, prevents contraction thereof accompanying the growth of cells, and has a desired gel strength as a supporting substrate.
