Thiopheneazo dyes of the formula in the R¹ cyano, C₁-C₄ alkoxycarbonyl, phenylazo, phenylsulfonyl, formyl or the rest where R⁷ and R⁸ are independently cyano or C₁-C₄ alkoxycarbonyl, R² C₁-C₄-alkyl, phenyl, halogen, C₁-C₄-alkoxy, or C₁-C₄-alkoxycarbonyl, or R¹ and R² together represent the radical (CH₂) ₃-CO, which is optionally substituted by 1 or 2 methyl groups and its carbonyl group is ortho is linked to the sulfur atom on the thiophene ring, R³ cyano or C₁-C₄ alkoxycarbonyl, R⁴ C₁-C₈-alkyl, cyclohexyl, phenoxy-C₁-C₄-alkyl, optionally substituted phenyl or optionally substituted thienyl, R⁵ C₁-C₄-alkyl, C₃-C₇-alkyl, whose alkyl chain is interrupted by 1 or 2 oxygen atoms, or C₁-C₄-alkoxy and R⁶ cyanoethyl, phenylethyl or C₃-C₁₂-alkyl, the alkyl chain of which is interrupted by 1 to 4 oxygen atoms and is optionally substituted by phenyl or phenoxy, mean, with the proviso that when R⁵ and R⁶ simultaneously represent alkyl interrupted by oxygen atoms, the rest R⁶ has at least 2 carbon atoms more than the rest R⁵, and the use of these dyes for dyeing textile fibers. |
