titleOfInvention Water purifying system
abstract A process for producing a non-toxic solution of at least one water soluble solid (8) substantially free of micro-organims which process comprises retaining the solid (8) in a container (1) provided with a selectively permeable membrane (7) in contact with the solid (8) and contacting the opposed side of the membrane (7) with water for a predetermined minimum period of time so as to allow the water to enter the container (1) by osmosis but to prevent the passage into the container of micro-organisms from the water. The solution may be an oral rehydration therapy, drinking water, a solution of drug, dried blood product, or blood- or plasma-substitute for administration to a patient or a nutritional suspension of dried nutritional substance, milk solids or partly dehydrated food. Containers for use in the process are also described.
