abstract | The present invention relates to a process and an apparatus for the preparation of 1,3-diamino-2-propanol by reaction of epichlorohydrin with aqueous ammonia solution which contains ammonia in excess relative to epichlorohydrin, using 15 to 24 moles of ammonia per mole of epichlorohydrin. The reaction product which is formed is brought into contact, during or after the reaction, with a strongly basic anion exchanger composition, preferably passed over at least one strongly basic anion exchanger at temperatures below 30 DEG C and transferred, directly or with the interpolation of at least one storage tank, to at least one vaporising apparatus, preferably at least one falling-film or short-path vaporiser, and there ammonia and water are evaporated off under reduced pressure at temperatures above 50 DEG C. The reduced pressure maintained in the vaporising apparatus depends on the ammonia present and on the temperature and is below 500 mbar, preferably below 400 mbar. |
