titleOfInvention New process for the synthesis of the levodopa
abstract New process for the synthesis of the levodopa, L-(-)-2-amino-n3-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)propionic acid, drug used in the ntreatment of the Parkinson's disease. The process consists in nresolving with d -camphorsulfonic acid, or with a salt nthereof, the d,l -2-amino-3-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)propionitrile, nobtained from the 3,4-dimethoxyphenylacetaldehyde, and in nthe subsequent hydrolysis and methylation, by means of nconcentrated solutions of haloid acids, of the d -2-amino-3-n(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)propionitrile and of salts thereof.
