A gelatin granulate obtained by plasticizing conventional gelatin consists of solid gelatin bodies with a water content of 1-12% by weight, with a grain size of 0.1-10 mm, with an air inclusion content of less than 1% by volume and with a melt index greater than 1 g / 10 min at 110 C. The granulate has thermoplastic properties and, like conventional plastics, can be processed into solid or hollow shaped articles by extrusion, injection molding, blowing and the like. |
