abstract A porous alkaline-proof metal fiber substrate is used as a current collector, and active material applied thereto includes nickel hydroxide powder to which zinc or magnesium is added in a range of 3 to 10 wt% or 1 to 3 wt%, respectively. The zinc or magnesium is in a solid solution in crystals of the nickel hydroxide, and the active material forms the principle compound of a paste, which is loaded into the electrode.
