titleOfInvention Thermoplastic sheet material having improved tape adhesion
abstract The new thermoplastic sheet materials allow for repeated positioning and repositioning of adhesive fastening strips without loss of adhesion between the two. A new thermoplastic sheet material generally comprises an ethylene polymer and an anti-peel substance in an amount sufficient to substantially increase and maintain the adhesive strength of the strip. The increase and substantial maintenance of the adhesive strength of the strip is obtained without affecting the properties or the costs of the strip of thermoplastic sheet. A preferred composition for producing new thermoplastic sheet materials comprises polyethylene as the ethylene polymer and polypropylene or alpha-methyl styrene as the release material. The new thermoplastic sheet materials are particularly suitable for use as films or buttress sheets in absorbent articles such as disposable diapers, bandages, surgical dressings or drapes and menstrual pads.
