Process for the preparation of ketones of general formula I. in which R¹ and R² independently of one another denote alkyl, cycloalkyl, arylalkyl, aryl or hetaryl, where at least one of the radicals R¹ or R² carries at least one hydrogen atom on the α-C atom, by reacting two carboxylic acids of the general formulas (IIa / IIb) , R¹-COOH (IIa) and R²-COOH (IIb) or by reacting a carboxylic acid R¹-COOH (IIa) and a ketone R²- -R² (Ib) or by reacting mixtures of IIa, IIb and Ib in the gas phase in the presence of a catalyst, using catalysts whose active mass consists of at least 50% by weight of titanium dioxide with a specific surface area greater than 10 m 2 / g. |
