abstract | The invention relates to a water-soluble contact adhesive based on polyvinylcarboxylic acid containing at least one hydroxyl-containing plasticiser having a molecular weight of less than 1000 and crosslinking agents, with 40-95 parts by weight of poly- beta -acryloyloxypropionic acid or of a copolymer of beta -acryloyloxypropionic acid with at least one unsaturated copolymerisable compound and 5 to 58 parts by weight of a polyoxyalkylene having a molecular weight of between about 80 and 1000 and/or glycerol or water-soluble glycerol derivatives, and, if desired, further components, crosslinking agents, solvents, colourants, fillers and antiageing agents, to a process for its preparation by mixing homopolymers or copolymers of beta -acryloyloxypropionic acid and derivatives thereof with a hydroxyl-containing plasticiser in a water-soluble solvent, if desired with addition of a crosslinking agent, and its use in papermaking. |
