A smoking article 10 in which a flavored naerosol is generated by heat transfer to a flavor nbed 21 from the combustion of a carbon heat source n20 is provided wherein the carbon heat source 20 and nthe flavor bed 21 are contained within a non-ncombustible substantially cylindrical hollow ceramic nsleeve 22. The article 10 generates substantially nno sidestream smoke. The transfer of heat from the nheat source 20 is accomplished by convective and nradiative heat transfer. |
