abstract | A printing head for generating slugs of liquid comprising: a) a liquid stream generating section (7) adapted to receive liquid under pressure and having an orifice (4) for producing a coherent, continuous stream (5) of the liquid; b) an electrode supporting section (17) on which is mounted an electrode (6), the electrode being positioned adjacent to the trajectory of the liquid stream (5) and extending in the direction of flow of the liquid stream (5); and c) a collector section (10), comprising an impingement region (9) which is inclined towards the axis of the liquid stream (5) when the liquid stream (5) impinges thereon and a run-off region which is inclined away from the axis of the liquid stream (5) at the point where the liquid stream (5) impinges upon the impingement region (9). |
