abstract | A process for producing furylpropargylcarbinol or a derivative thereof represented by the formula (I):n wherein R¹ represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, which comprises subjecting a haloallylfurancarbinol or a derivative thereof represented by the formula (II):n wherein R¹ represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group and R² represents a chlorine atom, a bromine atom or an iodine atom, to a dehydrohalogenation reaction with a base in a reaction solvent. Furylpropargylcarbinol and a derivative thereof produced according to the process of the present invention are very important as intermediates of agricultural chemicals, perfumes and medicines, and particularly applicable to intermediates of prallethrin. |
