titleOfInvention Novel amino acid substituted 4-aminophenazones for measuring enzyme activity
abstract Novel substrates which are amino acid 4-amino nphenazones for detecting enzymes, particularly L-gamma-­nglutamyltransferase, are described. The amino acid ngamma-glutamyl-4-aminophenazone reacts with the enzyme to nproduce 4-aminophenazone which is an amino dye intermediate. nThe amino dye intermediate is coupled with a second dye nintermediate to form a chromogen. The 4-aminophenazone is nparticularly reacted with a phenolic naphtholic or aniline ncompound, particularly the phenolic compound n2-hydroxy-3,5-dichlorobenzenesulfonate, to form a red nchromogen in the presence of an oxidizing agent, such as nbilirubin oxidase.
