REGULATED ADMINISTRATION OF A THERAPEUTIC AGENT WITH BLOOD. |
abstract |
As blood is introduced into a container (12) through a conduit (10) the blood flows through the conduit through an amount of therapeutic agent (18), such as an anticoagulant, to cause administering a regulated amount of therapeutic agent to the blood stream in a substantially uniform manner over time. The therapeutic agent (18) is typically present in dry form until it comes into contact with the blood. As a result, no part of the blood is exposed to a concentration of therapeutic agent significantly higher than that to which other parts of the blood are exposed. |
