titleOfInvention Method and system for variable frequency electromagnetic water treatment
abstract A method and system for utilising electromagnetic energy to inhibit, prevent, reverse, or alter the formation of rust or scale on various liquid contacting surfaces is disclosed. An electromagnetic signal at a frequency related to the energy absorption/emission characteristics of the liquid being treated are directed into the liquid. The frequency of the treatment signal, preferably between 0.1KHz and 1000MHz, may be changed if the absorption/emission profile of the liquid changes during treatment. In another embodiment, an electromagnetic test signal of varied frequency is directed into a fluid filled system at a first location. The current intensity of the signal is simultaneously measured at a second location some distance from the first location. The measured current intensity, relative to the varied frequency of the test signal, provides an energy absorption/emission profile of the fluid. A treatment frequency-generally the frequency at which the maximum absorption is observed-is then selected from such absorption/emission profile and treatment is carried out at such selected frequency.
