This invention relates to the preparation of benzylmercaptan by reaction of benzyl chloride and ammonium sulfhydrate.n n n In the process according to the invention, the reaction is carried out under autogenous pressure in a closed reactor in two stages, the first consisting in introducing the benzyl chloride into an aqueous solution of ammonium sulphide at a temperature below 80 ° C. and the second to heat the reaction mixture to a temperature ranging from 80 to 100 ° C. |
