titleOfInvention A method for the diagnosis of whooping-cough and a test kit for carrying the method into effect
abstract One method for diagnosing whooping cough is to incubate a body fluid sample from a patient with at least a portion of a fish scale containing a chromatophore and sensitive to pertussis toxins for an appropriate predetermined period of time, then subject the color of the fish scale to a first visual inspection, possibly by means of a microscope, to add a substance inducing a change in color in the fish scales, then to subject the color of the fish scales to a second visual inspection, possibly using a microscope, and to compare the first color of the fish scales observed with the second color of the fish scales observed, the absence of a color change or a slight change in color indicating the presence pertussis toxin in the body fluid sample. A test kit for carrying out said method is also described.
