titleOfInvention | CATHETER WITH A HIGH SPEED MOVED WORKING HEAD FOR INTRA-BODILY SURGICAL INVESTIGATIONS. |
abstract | Small diameter flexible catheter (20, 200) for performing various surgical investigations, such as opening a narrowing due to an undesirable substance, for example atherosclerotic plaque, in the lumen of a vessel, for example an artery, of a living being, the dilation of a duct or a fallopian tube, for example the fallopian tube, the Eustachian tube, the bile duct, etc., in a living being, and the destruction of a stone, for example a kidney stone or a gallstone, in the body of a living being. In one embodiment, the catheter (20) comprises a working head (24) having at least one non-cutting percussion surface (24A, 24B) intended to be moved, for example rotated, at a high speed by a drive means (22) associated with the interior of the catheter. The catheter with its working head in motion is brought into contact with a view to practicing the opening of the narrowing by dilation of the artery and / or elimination of the undesirable substance which it contains. This elimination is achieved through the percussion surface which repeatedly strikes the substance causing the shrinkage. A fluid (27) passes through the catheter to reach the working head, and a portion is thrown radially outward. The fluid at the level of the working head also flows in a vortex (31) in order to transport all the particles detached by rupture from the place of narrowing to the working working head where they are struck repeatedly to further reduce their size. Such an action makes it possible to obtain particles of a sufficiently small size, which are able to flow distally without noticeable deleterious effects for the tissues located distally. The catheter described makes it possible to perform valvulectomy in situ of a section of vein inside a living being. Another method uses a different embodiment of the catheter to disintegrate a stone, such as a kidney stone or |
