abstract |
The invention relates to a method for purifying a 168 kD protein from Mycoplasma pneumoniae. n n n It has so far not been possible to provide the 168 kD protein from Mycoplasma pneumoniae in the prior art in a purity that would have been sufficient for the diagnostic or therapeutic use of the protein.n n n It would therefore be an object of the invention to provide a method which provides the 168 kD protein from Mycoplasma pneumoniae in sufficient quantities in native form.n n n This object is achieved in that whole Mycoplasma pneumoniae cells are treated with a zwitterionic detergent, preferably CHAPS, then the 168 kD protein is extracted from the resulting pellet with a nonionic detergent, preferably octylglucoside, and finally further impurities are removed by size exclusion chromatography. |
