titleOfInvention Method of operating a diesel engine
abstract In order to avoid an inadmissibly high exhaust gas back pressure when operating a diesel engine equipped with a particle filter in the exhaust gas stream, an engine lubricating oil additized with a catalytically effective content of 5 to 20,000 ppm of an iron compound is used.n n n The additive facilitates the regeneration of the diesel particulate filter by burning, especially in the operating conditions of the diesel engine, which lead to only comparatively low exhaust gas temperatures.n n n Ferrocene, a ferrocene derivative or iron tallate is proposed as the iron compound.
