abstract Cephalosporin derivs. of formula (I) are new; where R1 is lower alkyl; A is N+R2R3R4; R2 and R3 are lower alkyl; R4 is amino or is lower alkyl opt. substd. by carbamoyl, carboxy, lower alkylamino, mercapto, lower alkanoyl, hydroxy or hydrazinocarbonyl; or A may be a heterocyclic gp. bonded by quaternary N (12 gps. specifically claimed including (II) and (III) and (IV)) opt. substd. by carbamoyl, lower alkyldithio, lower alkyl, sulphamoyl, formimidoyl or carboxyl; R5 is lower alkyl; and R6 is carboxy or hydroxy-lower alkyl. A is pref. (V) (VI) (VII) or 32 other groups. 7 beta-(2-(5-amino-1,2,4-thiadiazol-3-yl)-Z-2-methoxyiminoacetimido )-3-(E-3-(carbamoyl methldiemthyl ammonium)-1-propen-1-yl) 3-cephem-4-carboxylate and 8 other cpds. Reaction of amino and carboxyl-protected (I, A = halogen) with a tert. amine, followed by deprotection.
