titleOfInvention Combustible gas sensor
abstract A working electrode (2) and a counter electrode (4) are disposed with a predetermined spacing between them on the surface of an insulating substrate (1) and their surfaces are covered with a gas-permeable proton-conductive film (5) for integration. When a predetermined voltage is applied between both electrodes, a combustible gas that has permeated through the gas-permeable proton-conductive film is subjected to oxidation-reduction reaction on the surface of the working electrode and the generated proton migrates towards the counter electrode inside the gas-permeable proton-conductive film so that the concentration of the combustible gas can be measured. It is also possible to dispose a reference electrode in order to stablize the potential of the working electrode, and application to a field effect transistor type gas sensor is also possible.
