Process for incorporating particulate additives in a polycycloolefin |
abstract |
A procedure for distributing particulate additives in RIM and other reactive molded cycloolefin monomers is described. These additives are first dispersed in a solid or highly viscous polymeric material which is soluble in the monomer or monomers from which the polycycloolefin is to be polymerized, and then the dispersion is dissolved in the monomer or monomers. The monomers may then be utilized in typical reactive molding procedures involving combining two or more liquid streams of monomer containing various components of a methathesis catalyst system which becomes fully activated only upon combination and conveying the combination to a heated mold where it polymerizes. |
