abstract Polyketone polymers of carbon monoxide and a C₃₋₁₀ alpha-olefin are prepared by polymerization in the presence of a catalyst composition based on a palladium compound, a non-noble transition metal salt of an acid having a pKa below 2, and a bisphosphine of formula R⁵ R⁶ P-R-PR⁷ R⁸ containing polar substituents in the ortho-positions of at least R⁵ and R⁷ , which catalyst composition is dissolved in a specific diluent mixture which comprises at least 75 %v of a specified tertiary alcohol or hydrocarbon, and at least 5 %v of a specified aliphatic primary alcohol.
