abstract An analytical reagent mixing apparatus for performing sequential analytical reactions among an analyte from a liquid test sample and analytical reagents such as immunoassay reagents. The apparatus comprises an analytical reagent assembly (10) comprising first and second receptacles (12, 13) having first and second analytical reagents disposed therein, a lid member (11) engaged with the first and second receptacles (12, 13) comprising means (22, 23, 24) for providing open liquid communication between the first and second receptacles (12, 13), and means (48) for rotating the assembly (10). The apparatus automatically performs the sequential mixing and incubation of the liquid test sample with the analytical reagents to thereby provide a convenient method for performing sequential analytical reactions requiring only a minimal number of manipulative steps.
