abstract |
There is provided an improved process for producing poly (arylene sulphide) with an increased molecular weight as compared with that achieved by the conventional processes. n In the process, when the dihaloaromatic compound has been converted to the extent of 70-98 mole %, a lithium halide is introduced in a specified proportion and the moisture content in the reaction system is controlled within a specified range, and the polymerization is thereafter allowed to proceed further. n The product polymer has an increased molecular weight and excellent linearity and is suitable for use in various molding applications. |
